It’s official, the first day of Autumn has been and gone, Winter is coming. We’re almost there! That time of the year when we can sneak on a onesie with the curtains closed, a hot chocolate or mulled wine in one hand, and a book or television remote in the other whilst your feet warm in front of your fireplace.
The fashion for this year is sophistication and a fusion of styles. Which you of course already know! We understand that with each new year, you can’t just keep buying new styles to fit in with how others believe how your home should look. 2015 has been amazing to bring out some of the old furniture and couple it with new styles. We also understand that Autumn is huge! It’s when you get to start using your fire again, so we thought we’d give you a blog which looks at the fireplace as well as what the rest of your room could look like.
Go Bold with Wallpaper
Bold wallpaper designs have made a comeback. Not quite the garish bright orange from the 1960s and 1970s, but we definitely love having these bold patterns on a feature wall at least. Bringing in these bright colours will liven up your room and add a touch of warmth.
Glitter with Gold
Ah gold! We love it, it glints and glitters when flames from your fire reflect on it. We think of it as the colour of celebration, constantly looking fluid and ultimately, warm. It’s a perfect reminder of sunshine, and getting the right gold will make your room look like it is constantly touched by the sun. Add some fancy fittings to brighten up the room and make sure to feature some gold accessories to your mantelpiece – candles and photo frames are ideal!
Go Natural
The colours of nature undoubtedly make a room feel fresh, warm and cosy all at the same time! Dressing your room up with greens will make you feel like a burst of life has entered the room. On the other hand, bringing in brown rugs or having dark woods will add an earthy feel to the room, making it feel cosy. Bring in small plants and fresh flowers to literally add a touch of nature to your home. This will bring a fresh smell to your room, which will smell great and blooming flowers are a great reminder of summer and will add that bit of extra style to your mantelpiece. All of these styles will complement your fireplace and bring in another layer of cosy warmth to your room and home. As we’ve already stated, 2015 is all about changing up styles and bringing your own style to the table so mix and match different season’s designs, see if they work.
