If you’re lucky enough to have a stove in your home, you may have found yourself using it a lot over the past couple of months. As winter falls, there is nothing better than curling up in front of a gas stove to warm up. The more a stove is used, the dirtier it will become, so you will find that it needs cleaning after an extended period of use. This can be a bit of a tricky operation, so we’ve put together a quick guide detailing how to clean your stove.
- – Ensure that, before you start cleaning, the stove is completely cooled down.
- – Remove the baffle, firebricks, grate and ash pan, taking extra care when handling the bricks as they can become fragile.
- – Vacuum inside the stove to remove any ash or dust.
- – Clean the internal stove and grate using a wire brush and scraper, and then vacuum it again to remove any debris.
- – Using a soft brush, clean the firebricks, checking for significant signs of damage. Broken bricks should be replaced too.
- –Re-fit all cleaned internal parts, taking care to fit them properly.
- –Wipe down the inside and outside of the glass with a cloth, checking for any damage to the seal.
- – Oil the door latch mechanisms and hinge pins
- – You can refresh the look of your outer stove by cleaning it with a damp cloth, and then using aerosol paint or colloidal black cleaner.
